Albury Wodonga Health (AWH) is seeking an exceptional senior Emergency physician to take on the pivotal role of Clinical Director – Emergency Medicine. This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of emergency services across a large regional health service at a time of significant transformation, growth and investment. Reporting operationally to the Chief Operating Officer and working in close partnership with the Divisional Medical Director of Emergency & Critical Care, this role provides both strategic influence and hands-on clinical leadership. You will lead the Emergency Department through service modernisation, workforce development, and the planning and delivery of care during a major Regional Hospital Redevelopment. The Opportunity As Clinical Director – Emergency Medicine, you will provide senior clinical leadership across AWH’s emergency services and play a central role in shaping their long-term direction. A key focus of the role is the development of the Emergency Medicine Clinical Services Plan. This will ensure that Emergency services are modern, sustainable and aligned with future demand, workforce requirements and the Regional Hospital Redevelopment. You will lead the department with a team of well-rounded skilled clinicians and executives to define future service models, governance frameworks and partnerships, while maintaining safe, high-quality patient care. Please see the position description attached for further information.Key Responsibilities Strategic Planning and Service Transformation: Lead the development and delivery of a contemporary Emergency Medicine Clinical Services Plan Shape the service models to support the Regional Hospital Redevelopment Align Emergency services with organisational strategy and priorities Drive innovation while maintaining clinical excellence and operational stability Clinical Leadership and Governance: Provide visible and credible clinical leadership in the Emergency Department Lead quality assurance, peer review and clinical governance activities Develop and embed evidence-based policies and guidelines Promote the profile and standards of Emergency Medicine within AWH and externally Medical Workforce Leadership: Lead medical workforce planning, recruitment and appointment processes Foster a positive, professional and inclusive workplace culture Oversee equitable rostering, orientation and development processes Support education, training and research within Emergency Medicine Collaboration and Representation: Build strong relationships with nursing, allied health and clinical leaders Represent AWH on internal and external committees and working groups Develop partnerships with tertiary institutions and community stakeholders About You You are a senior Emergency physician with strong clinical credibility and a passion for leadership and service improvement. You are comfortable leading through complexity and change, and you value collaboration and patient-centred care.
