The Role The Senior Manager, Asset Allocation leads the design and ongoing evolution of NGS Super’s strategic, dynamic and tactical asset allocation frameworks across all investment options. The role is responsible for developing SAA, overseeing DAA/TAA overlays, and advancing systematic and discretionary strategies to generate alpha, manage risk and enable efficient portfolio rebalancing. As a senior member of the Investments team, the role leads quantitative research, contributes to SAA and DAA reviews, synthesises external adviser insights, and produces high quality investment and economic research, with a strong focus on derivatives, risk overlays and advanced financial modelling. What you’ll do Asset allocation & overlays Lead end to end SAA design across options, including objectives, constraints, ranges and rebalancing. Own and evolve DAA/TAA and risk overlay frameworks (hedging, downside protection, quantitative strategies). Build and maintain portfolio construction models, tools, reporting and dashboards for Investment leadership. Research & market analysis Deliver high quality quantitative research and clear investment recommendations. Provide timely macro and cross asset market analysis to inform positioning. Review external advice and stay across academic and industry developments. Strategy sourcing & manager engagement Identify and assess internal and external strategies to enhance alpha, resilience and liquidity. Lead manager due diligence in partnership with Governance, Operations and Legal. Negotiate commercial terms in line with APRA standards and NGS policy. Monitoring & governance Conduct ongoing strategy and manager reviews covering performance, risk, ESG and governance. Maintain robust documentation, research artefacts and analysis for investment committees. Recommend actions or changes where objectives are not being met. About you To succeed in this instrumental role, you will bring the following key skills: 5 years’ experience in asset or portfolio management, with a strong interest in superannuation and investment analysis. Relevant finance qualifications (e.g. CFA, Actuarial, B.Com, B.Acc, B.Econ). Portfolio management experience with strong understanding of equity manager styles and company valuation. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with investment managers. Advanced analytical capability, combining qualitative judgement with strong Excel skills. Experience negotiating commercial terms with managers and service providers, in partnership with Legal. Intellectual curiosity, sound judgement and the maturity to represent the Fund with confidence. The following skills are nice to have but not essential: Experience using portfolio and market data tools (e.g. Bloomberg). Programming capability in Python, VBA or similar, with working knowledge of SQL. Understanding of derivatives and portfolio implementation. Experience managing outsourced providers and service delivery. Exposure to advanced investment techniques, including machine learning or market microstructure. Willingness to travel and work across time zones.
