Medacs is partnering with a hospital based in Tasmania that is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Nursing - Sub Acute and Ambulatory Care Services . This is a senior leadership opportunity to shape high‑quality nursing services across a broad and complex portfolio within the Department of Medicine. About the Role As Director of Nursing, you will provide overarching leadership, strategic direction, and operational management for Sub Acute and Ambulatory Care Services at LGH. Working collaboratively with the Clinical Director - Department of Medicine and executive leadership, you will play a key role in driving clinical excellence, governance, workforce capability, and service innovation. This role oversees a diverse range of specialist services, including: Rehabilitation Wards Renal Units Specialist Clinics Diabetes Centre Hospital Aged Care Liaison Team Transitional Care Program Refugee Health Services Respiratory and Neurology Services Diabetes and Renal Research You will report to the Executive Director - Operations and Performance , with professional support from the Executive Director of Nursing and Midwifery . Key Responsibilities Provide strong clinical and professional nursing leadership across all areas of responsibility Lead clinical governance systems to ensure patient safety, quality outcomes, and risk mitigation Direct operational performance, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and service plans Oversee workforce, financial, and resource management to support sustainable service delivery Contribute to policy development, clinical frameworks, and service evaluation against best‑practice standards Champion research, education, innovation, and continuous quality improvement Support and mentor Nurse Unit Managers, fostering leadership capability, performance, and engagement Maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors through proactive risk management About You To be successful in this role, you will bring: Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse Demonstrated experience in a senior nursing leadership role (essential) Relevant postgraduate qualifications Strong strategic thinking, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills Proven experience leading complex clinical services and multidisciplinary teams Salary & Benefits Salary: $148,470 per annum 12% employer superannuation Postgraduate qualification allowance of up to 10% (dependent on qualification type) Generous salary packaging options (up to $9,010 living expenses $2,650 meal entertainment) Visa sponsorship available (482 or 186) Relocation assistance : Up to $15,000 for eligible overseas candidates Up to $10,000 for eligible interstate candidates Professional development support and accelerated leadership pathways Study leave and additional professional development entitlements Fitness Passport access for you and your family across 40 facilities in Tasmania
