Are you an experienced Control Systems Engineer who thrives on technical ownership and loves seeing a project through from the first line of code to final commissioning? Based in Mackay, this role offers a great balance for someone who enjoys the technical side of office work but still wants to spend time on site getting hands-on. About the role You will work on a diverse range of projects, including surface and underground mining, mineral processing, and even full substation builds. About 80% of your time will be focused on development and leadership in the office, with the remaining 20% spent visiting sites ranging from Mackay to Emerald. When required, you’ll be the on-the-ground lead, ensuring everything you’ve built works perfectly in a real-world environment. We are looking for a true specialist who can hit the ground running with coding from day one. You should be deeply familiar with the Allen-Bradley and Rockwell ecosystems, as you’ll be responsible for developing PLC, HMI, and SCADA solutions from scratch. Because much of this work serves the mining and heavy industry sectors, a solid background in those environments is essential. This isn’t a back-seat role. You’ll take ownership of the control systems scope and play a key part in how projects are delivered, while also supporting and guiding other engineers in the team. It’s a fantastic opportunity to lead high-stakes infrastructure projects while staying deeply involved in the engineering and development you love. The business You will be part of a locally owned business with a long history in designing, manufacturing, and supplying products across the mining, renewables, energy, and infrastructure sectors. The company is experiencing an exciting period of growth, and you will join a large, well-respected engineering team. Join a friendly team offering monthly BBQs and an active social club. What you bring You’ll hold an Australian-recognised Electrical Engineering degree or trade qualification. You’ll have at least five years of experience in electrical control systems and automation. This includes hands-on PLC programming and commissioning in mining or heavy industry. What’s Next This role is being recruited by NTP Talent. All applicants will receive a response.
