The position is initially offered as a 12-month non-ongoing contract, with genuine potential for extension or permanent placement. The Role Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: Review, develop, and rewrite financial policies to ensure accuracy, relevance, and compliance with the PGPA Act and accounting standards Collaborate with internal teams to identify gaps in existing financial policies and address areas requiring immediate attention Provide technical expertise to ensure all financial policies align with legislative and organisational requirements Translate financial and accounting principles into practical guidance to support effective decision-making Liaise with finance staff to understand business needs and their roles to develop comprehensive financial policies for the agency The Ideal Person You bring a solid foundation in accounting and finance, paired with hands-on knowledge of the public sector, particularly the PGPA Act. Whether you're a seasoned auditor ready for a new challenge or a finance professional looking to move into policy, this role is built for someone at that crossroads. You hold a CA or CPA qualification, but what sets you apart is your ability to take dense, technical material and translate it into something anyone can understand and actually use. You'll likely have: A background in accounting, finance, or audit with government experience highly regarded Strong working knowledge of the PGPA Act and its practical application CA or CPA qualification Excellent written and verbal communication skills Successful applicants will also require a Negative Vetting 1 AGSVA clearance.
