PURPOSE OF POSITION To provide specialist anaesthetic services in general adult, paediatric and obstetric anaesthesia. Work as a Consultant to provide specialist medical services to patients within the specialty Be actively involved in perioperative patient optimisation and post-operative follow up care. Accept appropriate referrals both internal and external to the hospital, in accordance with the hospital’s role delineation Participate in the preadmission clinic, its structure, resources and the education of medical and nursing staff involved. Contribute to the acute pain service. When required conducts daily consultant supervised acute pain rounds as per the departmental roster. Proportionately participates in a departmental after hours on call roster including weekdays, weekends and public holidays Be available to assist in airway or resuscitation crises when called upon throughout the hospital Provide consultant proximal after hours cover as required on the departmental roster. Proximal on call is defined as available within 10 minutes to attend in theatre at all times while on call. Hospital accommodation provided 2 minutes from the hospital to assist.
