We are currently seeking a motivated and reliable Hose Shop Technician to join our team at the Mackay, Connors Road branch. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a leading Caterpillar dealer, supporting customers across a wide range of industries including mining, construction, agriculture and marine. You will play a key role in the assembly, repair, testing and supply of hydraulic hoses and fittings while delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring workshop efficiency. This is a permanent, Monday to Friday role, offering job stability. What you’ll be doing As a Hose Shop Technician at Hastings Deering, you will: Build it right – assemble, repair and test hydraulic hoses and fittings to required specifications, ensuring reliability and compliance. Provide expert solutions – deliver technical support and clear advice to customers on the most suitable hose and fitting solutions for their applications. Control materials effectively – maintain accurate stock control and inventory of hose shop parts and consumables to support efficient operations. Operate safely – ensure all workshop equipment is correctly maintained and used in accordance with safety standards and procedures. Keep records accurate – process customer orders, job cards and service documentation with precision and attention to detail. Maintain a safe workspace – support workshop housekeeping to uphold a clean, organised and hazard-free work environment. Work as one team – collaborate closely with internal departments to meet customer deadlines and exceed expectations. What you’ll need: A successful teammate will have experience in: Bring hands-on experience – previous experience in hydraulic hose assembly, mechanical fitting, or a similar trade-based environment, preferred but not essential. Know the systems – strong working knowledge of hydraulic systems, hoses and fittings, with the ability to apply this knowledge confidently. Focus on quality – demonstrate high attention to detail and a strong commitment to producing quality workmanship every time. Communicate with purpose – strong communication and customer service skills, building trust and understanding with customers and colleagues. Work your way or the team way – ability to work independently while also contributing positively as part of a team. Licences a plus – forklift licence preferred but not essential.
