Mackay Regional Council is seeking a motivated Development Planner (DPE405) to help shape the future of our growing community by delivering timely, customer-focused assessment of low-risk development applications. About this opportunity: As a Development Planner, you will: Assess and manage development applications inaccordance with planning legislation, Council policy and service standards. Deliver high-quality planning services with a strong focus on customer experience, consistency and statutory compliance. Participate in pre-lodgement meetings and respond to planning enquiries and provide practical, timely advice to applicants, consultants and community members. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support well-informed applications and efficient assessment. Work as a supportive team member who values safety, wellbeing and continuous improvement, and who is keen to learn and be involved. Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills: Degree in Urban and Regional Planning (or progressing) or a related field. 1–3 years’ experience in development assessment and/or statutory planning (local government experience desirable). Strong communication skills and confidence engaging with customers and stakeholders (including participating in pre-lodgement meetings). A proactive, organised approach with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and ask questions when you need support. Current C Class driver licence.
