Every client relationship is built on this foundation. The Role: This isn't a conventional account management role. You'll be the primary client-facing leader across the agency's portfolio — owning the relationships, the retention, and the commercial outcomes that define the agency's reputation. You'll work in close partnership with the Head of Digital Strategy and Head of Creative, translating performance and creative intelligence into commercial clarity for clients — and translating client ambition back into actionable briefs for the team. You'll be working directly with founders and CMOs through high-pressure moments, fast-moving decisions, and ambiguous situations. Commercial fluency matters here, but so does emotional intelligence and the ability to hold genuine trust under pressure. COO Pathway: This role is deliberately structured as the foundation for the agency's future Chief Operating Officer. Over 3-5 years, the right person will develop deep fluency across every function of the business — client management, commercial strategy, team leadership, and operational systems. What You'll Own: The full client relationship lifecycle — onboarding through retention, escalation through upsell. You're the primary point of contact across your portfolio. Commercial outcomes for your accounts — retention rate, client NPS, revenue growth per account, and proactive identification of expansion opportunities. Client communication cadence — ad hoc calls, WIPs, QBRs, performance reviews, and strategic updates. You create and run the operating rhythm. Translating performance and creative data into commercial narratives that clients understand, trust, and act on. Proactive upselling and scope expansion — identifying where clients can grow and building the commercial case for it. Briefing the internal team with context — ensuring the Head of Digital and Head of Creative have what they need to do their best work. Account health monitoring — identifying at-risk clients early and leading the response before it becomes a problem. Onboarding — taking the baton from the founder-led sales process and orchestrating a structured, high-trust handover that sets the tone for the entire relationship. What You'll Grow Into: Deeper commercial fluency — sitting alongside the CEO and leadership team, contributing to growth planning, service evolution, and portfolio strategy. Team leadership — progressively managing junior account team members as the function scales. Operational ownership — taking on internal process, systems, and delivery accountability as the COO pathway matures. Strategic input — developing the commercial vocabulary and business acumen to function as a genuine senior voice in the business. Who You Are: 5 years in a senior client-facing role at a performance or eCommerce agency — Account Director, Group AD, or Head of Client Services level. You've held and grown a portfolio across brands at every stage of scale. Genuinely across eCommerce and D2C retail — not just familiar with it. You follow it, you think about it, and you understand what makes these businesses grow and what kills them. Commercially articulate. You don't need to be the architect of the growth strategy, but you can absorb it, translate it back to clients clearly, and build confidence in the process. Fluent across paid media, creative strategy, and digital performance. Comfortable holding a room on Meta, Google, TikTok, and creative direction without needing to be a platform technician. A relationship builder who creates genuine trust at founder and CMO level — the kind where they call you before they call anyone else. Operationally excellent. You build systems around yourself, run tight briefs, and create structure naturally. Nothing falls through the cracks. Calm under pressure. Client relationships get hard.
