The business operates structured seasonal growing cycles involving planting, crop maintenance, harvesting, grading and distribution. Due to ongoing expansion and increasing production targets, they are seeking an experienced Truck Driver, Horticulture Supervisor and Farm Worker to oversee daily horticultural operations. Truck Driver Key Responsibilities Drive trucks to move agricultural products, equipment, and supplies to and from the farm, including delivering produce to markets or distribution centers. Efficiently use truck controls and mechanisms for loading and unloading materials and perform regular maintenance and minor repairs as needed. Follow all safety protocols and regulations for operating trucks and transporting goods, including proper securing of loads and adherence to road safety standards. Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck to ensure it is in good working condition, checking tires, brakes, lights, signals, and other essential components. Review and verify shipping documents, such as bills of lading and delivery orders, to ensure accuracy before departing from the farm or delivery site. Assess and manage the weight and volume of materials to ensure safe and efficient transport and oversee the secure loading and unloading of goods. Maintain the truck and other equipment in a clean and orderly condition to ensure proper operation and longevity. Adhere to farm-specific protocols for transporting goods, including coordinating with farm management and following operational guidelines. Skills and Experience required: Relevant qualifications are required. One year of relevant experience is required. Horticulture Supervisor Key Responsibilities Supervising and coordinating orchard workers engaged in planting, pruning, thinning, spraying and harvesting activities Planning daily and seasonal work schedules based on crop growth stages and weather conditions Monitoring crop health, growth patterns and production levels to maintain optimum yield and quality Instructing workers on safe and correct use of farm tools, machinery and horticultural techniques Organising irrigation programs and fertiliser applications to maintain soil and plant health Inspecting orchards for pests, diseases and nutrient deficiencies and implementing appropriate treatment programs Overseeing grading, packing and storage procedures to ensure produce meets market standards Maintaining records of production, chemical usage, harvesting volumes and labour allocation Ensuring compliance with workplace safety, chemical handling and biosecurity requirements Training new and seasonal employees in orchard procedures and safe work practices Liaising with management regarding crop performance, labour requirements and harvest forecasts Coordinating maintenance of farm equipment and reporting repair requirements Skills & Experience Required Relevant qualification in horticulture, agriculture or a related field At least 1 year relevant supervisory experience. Ability to lead and manage a team in outdoor production environments Understanding of workplace health & safety and chemical handling procedures Strong organisational and record-keeping skills Ability to work in varying weather conditions and seasonal workloads Salary Package: $75,000 - $90,000 Plus Superannuation per annum. Farm Worker Key Responsibilities Patrolling the orchard or farm to monitor the condition of crops. Get the soil ready for planting by performing tasks such as tilling, plowing, or adding necessary nutrients. Sorting and packing fruits into appropriate containers while ensuring quality standards Prune crops by cutting back branches, stems, or leaves to improve their growth, health, and productivity Inspecting trees, vines, or plants for signs of disease, pests, or damage. Spray crops with pesticides to manage and control diseases and pests Reporting any issues or irregularities with crops to supervisors. Use hand tools and farm machinery to plant trees, seeds, seedlings, roots, bulbs, tubers, vines, and other types of plants. Set up supports like trellises for plant growth, and construct protective features such as greenhouses, netting, and fences to safeguard crops and enhance their development. Regularly clean and maintain farming structures like sheds and fences, as well as equipment such as machinery, and water supply and irrigation systems. Operate and perform maintenance on various farm machinery, including equipment for cultivation, fertilization, spraying, and harvesting horticultural crops. Trim and shape trees and vines to improve their health, growth, and productivity, ensuring proper fruit or flower development. Carry out various activities to promote healthy plant growth, including turning the soil and managing plant beds. Take care of crops through activities like thinning to reduce overcrowding, weeding to remove unwanted plants, and hoeing to manage soil and prevent weed growth. Operate and maintain irrigation systems to ensure crops receive adequate water for optimal growth, adjusting settings and troubleshooting issues as needed. Operate and oversee data collection tools and farm technology systems to monitor and enhance agricultural operations. Skills and Experience required Relevant qualifications are required.
