On this occasion we are bringing a fantastic Senior Environmental Officer opportunity, based in Nerang on the Gold Coast, to the market. This is one of the most significant infrastructure programs in South East Queensland right now — and it needs a seriously talented environmental professional to help deliver it. The project in question, is all about shaping the future of one of Queensland's fastest-growing corridors between the Gold Coast and Brisbane. This 2-year contract (with real potential to extend) offers you the chance to make a genuine mark on a landmark State Government program. The role Reporting directly to the Project Manager, you'll be the go-to environmental expert embedded within the project team, providing high-level strategic and technical guidance across all phases of delivery. Key responsibilities include: Delivering specialist advice on statutory obligations under the EPBC Act and all relevant State environmental legislation Driving Commonwealth and State environmental approvals and offsets processes Reviewing project design, environmental surveys, spatial data, PERs and developing EMPs, contract specifications and audit frameworks Identifying and negotiating design modifications to manage environmental risks Project managing the acquisition of environmental offset and project land — coordinating across multiple internal TMR teams and external advisors Representing the project on working groups, steering committees and stakeholder meetings Providing high-quality briefing notes and ministerial correspondence as required What we are looking for to impress our Client A degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management or Natural Resource Management (mandatory) Solid understanding of EPBC Act requirements and Queensland environmental approvals processes Experience in a similar senior environmental role on major infrastructure, transport or development projects Excellent written and verbal communication skills — you'll be advising senior stakeholders regularly Current 'C' class driver's licence Ability to pass a criminal history screening Why choose this role?
