Operating under a "no wrong door" philosophy, we deliver integrated mental health and alcohol and other drug support through a multidisciplinary team across the Goulburn Valley. Our service is built on a commitment to: Making mental health support free and accessible without referral Supporting people closer to home Delivering recovery-oriented, evidence-based care Creating culturally safe services for all community members The Role As a Senior Mental Health Nurse, you will be a key member of our clinical team, providing specialist nursing assessment, therapeutic intervention and care to people accessing our service. You will work collaboratively with mental health clinicians and lived experience staff to deliver the "front door" to mental health support in the region. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments including mental status examination and risk assessment Develop person-centred care and support plans focused on consumer-identified goals and outcomes Provide alcohol and other drug (AOD) screening and assessment as part of integrated care Monitor changes in consumer presentations and respond promptly to any deterioration Deliver brief therapeutic interventions using evidence-based approaches Participate in multidisciplinary clinical reviews and care planning meetings Maintain accurate, high-quality clinical documentation meeting professional and legal standards Provide education and support to consumers, families and carers Supervise nursing students on placement Collaborate with partner organisations and community agencies to support consumers across the care continuum Respond promptly to consumer feedback and complaints Support the team in quality improvement activities and best practice standards Work weekends and extended hours as required by the roster About You/Must Haves Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse Division 1 Postgraduate Diploma (or higher) in Mental Health Nursing, or equivalent qualification Substantial experience in community-based mental health nursing Demonstrated skills working with people experiencing severe mental illness and psychological distress Experience supporting people with co-occurring alcohol and other drug issues Strong knowledge of the Victorian Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022 Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Proven ability to communicate effectively in culturally and diversity safe ways Computer and system literacy Current Victorian driver's licence NDIS Worker Screening Clearance Nice to Have Postgraduate qualification (or working towards) in Alcohol and Other Drugs 5 or more years of experience in mental health and wellbeing services What We Offer Permanent full-time role Competitive salary per the Victorian Public Mental Health Services Enterprise Agreement Opportunity to work in a modern, integrated mental health service Supportive multidisciplinary team environment Professional development and supervision support Flexible working arrangements where possible Access to staff wellbeing programs Commitment to staff safety and physical and psychosocial wellbeing
