Track Machine Operator / Maintainer (Electrical) Roster: FIFO 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off Location: FIFO ex Perth or residential to Port Hedland Employment Type: Full time About the Role Join our dynamic rail resurfacing team as an Track Machine Operator! Operate specialised machinery, perform maintenance and repairs, respond to breakdowns, and ensure peak performance. Travel to various sites throughout the Pilbara, work closely with your crew, and grow your skills in the rail industry every day. Skills & experience Minimum 2 years’ experience in an equivalent position experienced in Mobile Equipment Maintenance or Rollingstock maintenance Electrical trade qualified Certificate II Rail Infrastructure (minimum) Track Machine Operator National Qualifications (TLIC2054) (TLIC3045) Full C Class Driving Licence or higher with no restrictions (HR Licence preferred but not essential) Proven experience as a Track Machine Operator Previous experience operating 09-3x Tamper & Unimat 4S Tampers Previous exposure to mining or remote work environments desirable Knowledge of maintenance and servicing in a rail environment Knowledge of rail safety standards, rules, and procedures Ability to read and interpret maintenance documents including manuals and drawings Ability complete and pass Rail Category 1 Rail Medical and drug and alcohol testing Desirable Qualifications in a related rail discipline. (i.e. Certificate III in Rail Infrastructure) Qualified as a Rail Track Certifier Duties & responsibilities Travel to multiple job sites as part of a mobile rail operations team Carry out scheduled and reactive maintenance to reduce machine downtime Operate advanced rail resurfacing equipment in accordance with safety standards Assist in multi-trade tasks and collaborate with maintenance crews Accurately document inspections, faults, and maintenance activities Conduct regular machinery checks and performance testing Diagnose issues and perform hands-on mechanical and electrical repairs Respond promptly to breakdowns and support urgent repair work Uphold compliance with all company policies and industry regulations Actively engage in on-the-job learning to build rail-specific expertise About the company Cat5 Rail is a 100% Australian-owned family business with over 16 years of experience delivering high-quality rail services in the Pilbara region.
