Mechanical Engineer – Site-Based (FIFO) We’re seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join a site-based team focused on whole-of-plant optimisation and sustaining capital delivery following a major expansion. This is a hands-on, site-driven role — not design or office-based. You’ll work across the full processing facility, including both legacy plant and newly installed circuits, identifying issues, improving performance, and delivering practical upgrades. Key responsibilities include: Walk down and assess the entire plant (not limited to a single circuit) Identify reliability, operability, and maintenance improvement opportunities Diagnose interface issues between legacy and newly installed infrastructure Work with operations and maintenance to scope and prioritise works Convert observations into practical, deliverable scopes Support delivery of sustaining capital and minor projects Review equipment and system performance across the plant Contribute to shutdown planning and execution improvements Typical focus areas: Integration issues between old and new plant Plant bottlenecks and system-wide inefficiencies Maintainability and access improvements Piping, pumping, and services optimisation Recurring failure points and reliability issues General plant optimisation across the full system About you: Mechanical Engineering degree Strong site-based experience in mining or mineral processing Background in fixed plant (pumps, piping, conveyors, etc.) Experience across brownfield / sustaining capital work Comfortable working directly with trades and supervisors Able to identify issues and drive practical, implementable solutions Ideal background: Experience in gold, nickel, lithium, or similar processing operations Exposure to whole-of-plant environments (not just single circuits) Experience in ramp-up or post-commissioning environments This role suits engineers who prefer site over office and can operate with a high degree of autonomy. Not suited to purely design-focused or early-career engineers. You’ll be working across a complex, integrated processing plant with an ongoing pipeline of optimisation and sustaining capital work, with direct impact on performance and reliability.
