Assistant Category Manager Reporting to the Category Manager, this is a commercially focused role sitting at the heart of our client's product and ranging strategy. You'll work across the full category management mix, from assortment planning and supplier engagement to pricing, promotions, and planogram execution, supporting the delivery of category plans that drive sales, margin, and customer satisfaction across a national retail and trade network. What You'll Be Doing Partner with the Category Manager to bring category plans to life, using market trends, sales performance, margin data, analysis and competitor insights to shape smart commercial decisions Track and analyse competitor pricing to support well informed pricing strategies that keep the business competitive without compromising on margin Collaborate with marketing teams to plan and coordinate promotional campaigns, ensuring briefs are clear, timelines are met, and activity lands effectively in market Dig into weekly sales data to assess what's working, spot emerging trends, and build insights that sharpen future promotional and ranging decisions Support the end to end management of promotional activity, from product selection and demand planning through to stakeholder communications and execution Coordinate in store activation projects across your categories, working cross functionally to improve product visibility and drive sell through Identify and action strategies to manage slow moving or excess stock, keeping inventory healthy and the range fresh What We're Looking For You'll be coming from a retail, consumer goods, or FMCG environment and have a genuine interest in how categories are built and managed. Specifically, we're looking for: 2–3 years' experience in a category management, buying, merchandise, or retail analytics role A solid grounding in sales and margin analysis, you're comfortable pulling apart data and telling a story with it Experience working with promotional planning or campaign coordination in a retail or supplier environment Exposure to pricing strategy and an understanding of how to balance competitiveness with commercial outcomes Confidence using Excel and data tools for reporting, analysis, and business case development Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, you can work cross functionally and influence without authority A proactive, curious mindset with a genuine commercial hunger to grow in a category management career
