We currently have an opportunity for a Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manager to join our Government & Integrated Facilities Management team and play a key role in strengthening a proactive, people‑centred safety culture across our portfolio. Reporting to the Contract Director / Head of Zero Harm Operations, you'll shape safety leadership, uplift capability, and help deliver high‑quality outcomes that support essential public services. What You'll Do This role offers a broad scope, with key responsibilities including: Champion a proactive Zero Harm leadership culture, partnering closely with operational leaders to influence safe, sustainable behaviours across diverse environments. Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the Downer Zero Harm Strategy, ensuring alignment with operational priorities and contract requirements. Provide trusted health, safety and wellbeing expertise, offering practical, timely advice and support to leaders, teams, and service delivery partners. Oversee incident investigations, audits, and risk assessments, using evidence‑based insights to drive learning and meaningful improvement. Coach, mentor, and develop Zero Harm team members, fostering collaboration, capability uplift, and a strong "One Team" culture. What You'll Bring Tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety or a related discipline, with strong technical knowledge across WHS, environmental and wellbeing frameworks. Proven experience in a senior HSE leadership role, ideally within facilities management, infrastructure, or complex operational environments. A collaborative and inclusive leadership style, with the ability to influence, coach, and build trust at all levels of the organisation. Strong analytical and communication skills, with confidence presenting insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
