Role Purpose The Developer Programmer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, implementing and maintaining software applications and related system components that support the operational and client service objectives of R-SQUARE CONSULTING PTY LTD. The role exists to translate business and functional requirements into effective technical solutions, ensuring applications are reliable, secure, maintainable and aligned with business needs. Duties for this role are consistent with the typical Australian market expectations for developer programmers, including interpreting technical specifications, building and modifying code, testing software, and preparing technical documentation. Working as part of a professional environment, the position contributes to project delivery, system enhancement, issue resolution and ongoing application support. The role also supports internal compliance, documentation standards, stakeholder communication and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure technology outcomes are delivered efficiently and in line with organisational and client requirements. Key Responsibilities Analyse business and user requirements, technical specifications and workflow documentation to develop software solutions that meet defined project and operational objectives. Design, write, test, debug and maintain high-quality application code using appropriate programming languages, frameworks, libraries and development tools. Develop and modify software applications, interfaces, modules and database components in accordance with approved technical designs and business requirements. Participate in solution design activities, including system architecture discussions, technical estimation, feasibility assessment and implementation planning. Conduct unit testing, integration testing and defect resolution to ensure applications operate reliably, securely and in accordance with functional specifications. Prepare and maintain clear technical documentation, including code comments, design notes, deployment procedures, test evidence and support materials. Collaborate with internal stakeholders, project personnel, consultants and clients to clarify requirements, communicate technical matters and support successful project delivery. Investigate system incidents, application defects and performance issues, identify root causes, and implement timely corrective and preventative actions. Support deployment, release and version control processes across development, test and production environments in accordance with established procedures. Monitor application performance and recommend enhancements to improve functionality, usability, maintainability, scalability and system efficiency. Contribute to database design, data validation, data integrity and reporting processes to support accurate and secure handling of business information. Apply coding standards, development methodologies and quality assurance practices to promote consistency, maintainability and risk reduction across software deliverables. Ensure work is performed in accordance with organisational policies, client requirements, security controls, privacy obligations and applicable workplace procedures. Provide regular status updates, technical input and implementation reports to management and relevant stakeholders on assigned tasks, risks, outcomes and improvement opportunities. Participate in continuous improvement activities, including code reviews, knowledge sharing, process refinement and adoption of suitable tools and practices to strengthen delivery capability. What We Are Looking For (Requirements) Minimum one (1) year of relevant work experience in software development, application programming or a closely related role. A relevant qualification at Certificate IV, Diploma, Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline. Demonstrated experience in programming, debugging, testing and maintaining software applications using contemporary development tools, frameworks and source control practices. Sound understanding of software development life cycle practices, technical documentation standards, database concepts and structured problem-solving techniques. Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, manage competing priorities and work collaboratively within a project or service delivery environment. Working knowledge of quality, security, privacy and compliance obligations relevant to software development within the Australian workplace context.
