Primary Location NSW - Rockdale Job Description Summary ConnectSydney are on the hunt for an experienced Planning, Preworks & Projects – Project Manager to join the team at our Rockdale office! About the Role ConnectSydney, a joint venture of ServiceStream, Boral, and Johnson Controls, in partnership with Transport for NSW (TfNSW), is entrusted with the management of the Harbour Zone. Our responsibilities encompass routine maintenance, strategic enhancements, and specialised projects aimed at bolstering Sydney's transport infrastructure. This Project Manager role establishes and leads the Preworks, Planning and Maintenance Projects function to support Civil and ITS maintenance delivery across the network. Working in close partnership with Maintenance Managers, Supervisors and Scheduler team, the role provides structured planning, scope development, and project delivery leadership. The function strengthens forward planning capability while remaining embedded within the maintenance delivery team. The position leads a team of Project Engineers, Maintenance Engineers & assistants and is accountable for the Preworks, Planning and Delivery of Maintenance Project and improvement works. The role is hands-on and actively contributes to developing scopes, coordinating stakeholders, and supporting delivery outcomes. A key focus of the role is building data-driven cyclical maintenance programs, using defect, asset, and performance data to improve planning, prioritisation, and funding confidence. Key Responsibilities Work closely with Maintenance Managers and Schedulers to develop forward works programs Build and maintain rolling 4–12-week lookaheads and forward pipelines, with larger 6-to-12-month strategies Align planning across reactive, cyclical and improvement work Identify delivery risks, constraints, and resource requirements early Data-Driven Cyclical Maintenance Programs Analyse defect, asset, and performance data to support program development Assist in building evidence-based maintenance plans and funding proposals Improve visibility of workload, backlog, and program progress Support prioritisation aligned with risk, budget, and client expectations Preworks & Work Readiness Lead development of scopes, work packs, and delivery documentation Ensure works are ready for delivery prior to mobilisation, including: Traffic and permit requirements Commercial and procurement pathways Resource and plant planning Stakeholder coordination Reduce last-minute planning and reactive mobilisation Maintenance Projects Delivery Lead planning and delivery of maintenance and improvement projects Provide leadership and support to Project Engineers and Maintenance Engineers Maintain oversight of scope, cost, risk, and delivery progress Support development of internal capability to deliver larger works in-house Scheduling & Delivery Integration Partner with the Scheduling team to align planned and reactive works Improve forward visibility of workload and resource demand Support development of structured planning and lookahead processes Commercial & Procurement Coordination Support early cost planning and estimate development Assist with preparation of tender scopes and subcontract packages Coordinate procurement readiness and mobilisation planning Support forecasting and budget planning activities Supporting Delivery Teams Reduce planning and administrative burden on Maintenance Teams Improve coordination across Operations, Scheduling and Support Functions Enable delivery teams to focus on safe and efficient execution of works Key Outcomes Improved forward planning and program visibility Evidence-based cyclical maintenance programs Improved readiness and mobilisation of works Stronger coordination across internal teams About You: Demonstrated experience (8 years) in civil infrastructure, road maintenance or similar environments Proven experience in project management, planning or preworks development Strong ability to develop methodologies, scopes and cost estimates Experience delivering maintenance, upgrade or construction works Ability to interpret asset, defect or performance data to inform planning Strong stakeholder engagement and coordination skills Ability to operate in environments with high workload and competing priorities About Us: ConnectSydney is an equal opportunity employer who believes diversity of thought, background and experience strengthens relationships and benefits our people, clients, and communities.
