This role involves performing protection studies, designing protection systems, supporting delivery teams, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The role is integral to Evoenergy’s strategic development of next generation digital substations utilising IEC 61850 technologies and the realisation of benefits in construction, operation, maintenance, safety and reliability. The role also contributes to protection system asset strategies, condition assessments and maintenance plans. Key responsibilities: Responsible for condition and performance assessments for Evoenergy’s protection assets and systems – this includes recommendations to repair, replace and upgrade assets. Responsible for defining protection system requirements and scope for projects. Responsible for performing network protection studies and production of protection setting documentation. Provide protection related inputs for customer projects, zone substation projects and network earthing assessments Provide input and make improvements in Evoenergy protection standards, guidelines and practices to align with industry best practice. Holds a current ACT Professional Engineering Registration or ability to obtain ACT Professional Engineering Registration Demonstrated knowledge and experience of protection application for HV and LV systems and embedded generation. Demonstrated knowledge and experience with power system software to conduct network protection studies and development of protection settings. Familiar with the application of IEC 61850 in protection and control systems.
