Strategic Procurement Manager An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Procurement Manager to play a key role in both the strategic sourcing of suppliers and materials within a complex, engineering-led environment supporting critical capability delivery. This position will see you take ownership of end-to-end sourcing activities - from hands-on procurement of make-to-order items through to developing supplier strategy and managing vendor performance across a global supply chain. Responsibilities of your new role Manage sourcing and procurement activities for make-to-order materials and components, ensuring alignment with production requirements. Analyse engineering drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials to support RFQs and supplier selection. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, both locally and internationally. Drive supplier performance, including lead times, quality, and delivery, and act as an escalation point for vendor issues. Contribute to the development and execution of sourcing strategies to improve supply chain efficiency and resilience. Work closely with production planning teams to ensure stock levels and supply timelines meet operational requirements. Monitor and negotiate vendor lead times, updating systems and stakeholders accordingly. Support continuous improvement initiatives across procurement, supplier management, and supply chain processes. Utilise ERP/MRP systems for quotation management, purchasing, and vendor performance tracking. Skills & Experience Extensive experience in sourcing and procurement within a manufacturing, engineering, or technical environment. Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and Bills of Materials. Proven experience managing both operational procurement and strategic supplier relationships. Experience working with ERP and MRP systems. Strong commercial acumen with the ability to negotiate and manage supplier performance. Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills. Supply Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing or related qualification. APICS (CSCP/CPIM) and/or CIPS qualifications highly regarded.
