The role ALS Environmental in Wangara seeks an Instrument Operator to join the Inorganics Team, which strives to exceed customer expectations by delivering quality results on time. The Full Time position is Monday through Friday on the 9 am to 5 pm shift. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Operating Aquakem 250 and 600, as well as Gallery and Smartchem instruments. Performing instrument calibration and preparing reagents and standards for each test method. Meeting TAT requirements and communicating effectively with the Team Maintaining stock levels. Troubleshooting basic instrument issues. Performing other tasks as required by the Team Leader and management. Providing clear handovers at the end of each shift. The essentials At least 2 years’ experience in a commercial laboratory. A Bachelor’s or Honours degree (Chemistry major preferred). Experience with instruments such as Metrohm Omnis, Thermo Fisher Aquakem/Gallery, Agilent ICP-OES and/or ICP-MS, Shimadzu TOC-L, and Skalar SAN; experience with any of these would be advantageous. Strong critical thinking skills, with the ability to problem-solve, troubleshoot, and perform basic repairs and maintenance on technical equipment. Working knowledge of various inorganic and/or organic sample preparation techniques. Sound understanding of laboratory safety requirements. Experience working in a quality-accredited environment is preferred. A keen interest in inorganic and/or organic analysis. Ability to work flexible hours and undertake overtime as required by workload.
