Job Description Position: EL1 Project Manager Location: Canberra Start date: July 2026 Duration: Approx. 12 months with potential extension of a further 12 months Pay rate: Rates negotiable dependent on skills and experience Security requirements: Must hold a current Baseline security clearance at commencement Overview: A Federal Government department is seeking experienced and motivated Project Managers to support the delivery of major ICT projects within a large and complex environment. This role sits within a high-performing division responsible for delivering enabling services and operational outcomes to both the department and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving project outcomes that support innovation, productivity, and long-term economic benefit. Responsibilities: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including cross-agency partners and service providers Plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate project and program initiatives Lead stakeholder engagement to ensure effective communication, coordination, and collaboration Identify, manage, and resolve project risks, issues, and challenges Provide governance, assurance, and oversight for complex ICT projects Work collaboratively within cross-functional teams in an agile delivery environment Represent the team in governance forums and provide accurate reporting on project status, risks, and outcomes Manage project resources to deliver high-performing and motivated teams Apply project management tools and methodologies across risk, quality, financials, procurement, and delivery lifecycle activities Experience/requirements: Minimum 5 years’ experience delivering complex ICT projects and programs within the Federal Government Demonstrated ability to build and sustain effective stakeholder relationships across multiple levels Proven experience applying project management methodologies including Waterfall and Hybrid Agile Strong communication and negotiation skills, including engagement with senior executives Ability to deliver outcomes in complex, fast-paced environments Apply now or contact SOS Recruitment on 6260 8888 for a confidential discussion.
