About the role: Our client is a large Commonwealth department delivering nationally significant programs across industry, science and resources. The CIO Division drives enterprise ICT capability and is scaling its project delivery function to support a portfolio of major initiatives. Responsibilities: You will lead complex ICT projects within the CIO Division, managing delivery end-to-end across planning, execution and post-implementation review. You will report into senior branch leadership and engage regularly with Departmental Executive and cross-agency stakeholders. This is hands-on project leadership, not a governance-only seat. Lead planning, delivery and assurance of complex ICT projects using waterfall and hybrid agile approaches Manage stakeholder relationships across business partners, vendors and cross-agency collaborations Deliver clear status reporting and risk escalation to governance forums and executive sponsors Coordinate cross-functional teams in an agile environment to meet agreed outcomes Drive resource, financial and procurement management across your project portfolio Essential criteria Ideal skills:x2013; please do not apply unless you meet all of the following: A minimum of 5 years’ experience leading complex ICT projects and programs specifically within Australian Federal Government Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including business partners, cross-agency collaborations and service providers Demonstrated experience applying project management frameworks and methodologies including waterfall and hybrid agile Ability to communicate and negotiate effectively with a range of stakeholders, including Departmental Executive (SES level) You must hold a current Baseline security clearance at commencement – this is non-negotiable as the role requires immediate access to PROTECTED information and systems This is a well-established ICT division within a large department that values pragmatic delivery over process for its own sake. Teams operate collaboratively in an agile environment, with genuine executive support for project outcomes. Multiple PM resources are engaged across the division, so you will be part of a broader community of practice rather than operating in isolation.
