Shape gas supply strategy for a major Queensland industrial operation Drive commercial transformation during a high-stakes asset transition Support a nationally significant industry underpinning Australian food security About the Opportunity This is a rare and high-impact leadership role at the centre of a major industrial gas supply operation. You will take ownership of the full gas supply function - commercial, operational and regulatory - for a large-scale, energy-intensive manufacturing facility in Queensland that relies on natural gas as a critical production input. This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned gas professional to shape strategy, reset commercial frameworks and build best-practice systems from the ground up. Key Responsibilities Gas Supply Strategy & Contracting Lead negotiation of medium and long-term gas supply and transport agreements Manage relationships with producers, aggregators and pipeline operators Optimise portfolio across long-term contracted and spot/short-term markets (STTM/GSH) Develop and execute a gas sourcing strategy aligned with plant demand and business objectives Operational Gas Management Oversee daily gas nominations, scheduling and balancing Ensure reliable delivery of gas via pipeline infrastructure Manage supply interruptions, contingency planning and volume optimisation Partner closely with site operations and energy/utilities teams Drive continuous improvement in cost and reliability of supply Regulatory & Compliance Manage all regulatory applications and compliance obligations relating to gas supply and transport Ensure compliance with pipeline access arrangements and east coast gas market participation rules (AEMO) Lead engagement with regulators and government as required Maintain robust compliance frameworks About You Experience 10 years in energy, gas or utilities markets Candidates from industrial or end-user backgrounds preferred Proven track record negotiating gas supply and transport agreements Background in industrial gas users (preferred) or energy trading, upstream or midstream gas businesses Exposure to Australian east coast gas markets highly desirable Must have the right to work full time in Australia Skills & Capabilities Strong commercial negotiation skills Deep understanding of gas markets (contract and spot) and pipeline logistics Ability to operate at both strategic (portfolio/contracting) and operational (daily supply management) levels Senior stakeholder engagement capability Collaborative, cross-functional approach; comfortable working with operations, finance and executive leadership This Role Offers A genuinely critical function within a complex, large-scale industrial operation Direct influence over a major cost driver and operational reliability lever for the business Exposure to intricate gas market structures and infrastructure Support a nationally significant industry underpinning Australian food security Reports directly to the Chief Commercial Officer To express interest or find out more, please apply to the ad or get in touch at bens@ogroup.com.au
