About this Position: As an Executive Planner, you will provide high‑level professional and specialist planning services to Council, stakeholders and the community. You will assess and manage complex and regionally significant development applications, represent Council in high‑profile and legal forums, and contribute to planning policy and procedural improvement. This role plays a key leadership and advisory function within Statutory Planning, requiring sound judgement, political awareness and the ability to communicate clearly in sensitive and complex environments. Training and development opportunities What we trust you to deliver: Assess and manage regionally significant and highly complex development applications Prepare and review professional reports for all classes of development applications Provide expert development advice, including submissions to the NSW Department of Planning Coordinate and prepare Council reports to Planning Panels as required Represent Council as an expert planner in legal proceedings, including the NSW Land and Environment Court (Class 1 matters) Deliver complex and politically sensitive briefings in high‑profile environments Participate in policy and plan preparation and review Lead and participate in mediation and stakeholder engagement for contentious applications Mentor and support planning staff and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives Build strong working relationships with internal teams, government agencies, courts and industry bodies What you will need to be successful: Degree qualification in Planning, Environmental Planning or similar Eligibility for Corporate Membership of the Planning Institute of Australia Demonstrated extensive statutory planning experience within Local Government Demonstrated experience representing parties in NSW Land and Environment Court – Class 1 proceedings Excellent written, verbal and advocacy skills Current NSW Class C Driver Licence Full position description: Click here Full Time: 70 hours a fortnight Salary: An attractive salary on offer, depending on skills and experience.
