About the Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Advisor to join our Queensland team, supporting the delivery of water infrastructure projects across the Unitywater BBT Program. This is a hands‑on, site‑based role working across the Sunshine Coast and City of Moreton regions, partnering closely with project teams to provide practical environmental leadership in dynamic construction environments. This position has a strong practical focus, carrying out key environmental activities on site, while also providing senior‑level guidance, leadership and support to project teams. As a key member of the Program team, you will lead the integration of environmental management principles across all projects. You’ll work collaboratively with program and project stakeholders to strengthen a culture where environmental stewardship and ownership are embedded in everyday behaviours. In this role, you will Ensure all Unitywater environmental policies, procedures and standards are correctly applied. Assist with applications for environmental permits and approvals from regulatory authorities Maintain compliance with all relevant environmental legislation, approvals, permits and requirements. Lead and contribute to environmental risk identification, assessment and mitigation strategies. Develop, review and implement Environmental Management Plans Ensure adequate environmental resourcing is allocated based on project‑specific risks. Oversee delivery against the Program’s Environmental Management Plans, including auditing, inspections and close‑out of corrective actions. Carry out hands‑on environmental tasks on site, working directly with crews and subcontractors to influence safe and environmentally responsible behaviours. Procure and manage environmental consultants and contractors to carry out specialist tasks Lead or support incident investigations, ensuring learnings are captured and improvements implemented. Drive continuous improvement and promote a proactive, integrated HSE culture across the Program. What You’ll Bring A tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline (essential). Demonstrated experience in construction delivery within a contractor environment. Experience in water infrastructure or utility‑based civil projects highly regarded (Unitywater experience advantageous). Strong understanding of environmental legislation, compliance frameworks and environmental management systems. Proven capability in environmental risk identification and mitigation. Experience developing and reviewing Environmental Management Plans. Competence in conducting audits, inspections and supporting incident investigations. Strong communication skills with the ability to influence, mentor and guide project teams. A proactive, hands‑on approach to environmental and safety leadership.
