Who We Are The Brisbane Youth Education and Training Centre (BYETC) is a Department of Education school located within the Brisbane Youth Detention Centre in Wacol. The school plays an important role in the community by providing young people in detention with opportunities to develop knowledge, skills, and values that support positive decision-making and future pathways. Through education and training, BYETC aims to help students build the capacity and confidence needed to pursue constructive choices beyond detention. Step Into Your Next Chapter Be accountable for assigned cases to progress transition plans, including undertaking appropriate case management, advocacy and support, prioritising daily caseload, communicating with transition partners and students and implementing agreed approaches. Communicate expectations of the transition program with students and stakeholders as required, to develop their understanding of career and learning pathways and promote the importance of continued education for students while in detention. Review and analyse students' induction case files and engage with students to identify their particular interests, skills and abilities, inform appropriate approaches to encourage students' engagement with the transition plan process and recommend the best fit transition plan. Engage with students in good faith consistent with the principles of relevant Acts and regulatory and governance frameworks and, where necessary, escalate concerns, issues and/or barriers impacting students' engagement and/or successful transition, with the relevant officer.
