What you’ll be doing: As a Leading Hand at Hastings Deering, you will: Lead and coordinate front-of-parts operations – manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the front counter and customer-facing parts function. Deliver outstanding customer service – provide responsive, professional support to internal and external customers to ensure a positive experience. Support and mentor team members – guide, coach, and assist Parts Interpreters to build capability and maintain high performance. Manage workflow and task allocation – assist with prioritisation, workload planning, and allocation of daily tasks to ensure efficient service delivery. Ensure accurate order and invoice processing – maintain accuracy in parts orders, invoicing, and customer enquiries to minimise errors and delays. Maintain strong product knowledge – develop and apply in-depth knowledge of Caterpillar and allied products to support customers and the team. Monitor stock availability – liaise with warehouse and supply teams to ensure parts availability and timely fulfillment. Drive continuous improvement – actively promote enhancements in safety, service quality, and operational efficiency. What you’ll need: A successful teammate will have experience in: Industry knowledge – proven experience in a Parts Interpreter or Parts Advisor position within mining and construction industries. Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience – proven ability to lead, support, or guide team members in a formal or informal capacity. Strong customer service and communication skills – capable of building rapport, clearly conveying information, and responding effectively to customer needs. High attention to detail and organisational ability – able to manage tasks accurately, prioritise workloads, and maintain high standards in a fast-paced environment. Thrives under pressure – able to perform in a fast-paced environment and consistently deliver on expectations. Systems capability – confident with computing, including Microsoft AX and SAP softwares. Licenses a plus – overhead crane and forklift tickets are desirable (training opportunities may be available). Interested?
