The Organisation Our client is a large, highly complex government institution providing essential services to the Victorian community. They are investing heavily in workforce technology to enhance operational efficiency, compliance, and employee experience. As part of this investment, they are seeking an experienced UKG Systems Specialist with a payroll profile to take ownership of the configuration, optimisation, and ongoing support of their UKG environment within a mature, collaborative payroll and systems function. The Role Reporting into a Director of Payroll Services, this role will act as the subject matter expert for UKG, supporting time and attendance, rostering, workforce management, and system integrations across a large and diverse workforce. You will work closely with HR, Payroll, Finance, IT, and operational stakeholders to ensure system integrity, optimise workflows, and support ongoing enhancements, upgrades, and change initiatives. Key Responsibilities Act as the primary UKG SME, owning system configuration, access, roles, workflows, and business rules Support and optimise time and attendance, rostering, and workforce management modules Translate business requirements into scalable system solutions in partnership with stakeholders Manage system maintenance, upgrades, testing (UAT), and post-go-live support Ensure data integrity, audit controls, and accurate workforce reporting Build and maintain operational and compliance reports Deliver training, documentation, and user support across the organisation Provide ad hoc assistance to the operational payroll team if required Candidate Profile Proven experience as a UKG Systems Specialist, Officer, or Workforce Systems Lead Long term career working within payroll departments Strong hands-on UKG (Kronos) experience, particularly time and attendance and rostering Background supporting large, workforce-heavy organisations such as government, health, utilities, corrections, or facilities management Sound understanding of payroll interfaces, awards/EBAs, and compliance considerations Experience across system implementations, upgrades, or optimisation programs Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to bridge technical and operational teams What’s on Offer Secure role within a large and stable government institution Ownership of a complex, enterprise-scale UKG environment Exposure to major workforce systems initiatives and transformation programs Hybrid working with strong work-life balance Competitive remuneration aligned to experience and enhanced superannuation To discuss further, please contact Daniel Close at dclose@sharpandcarter.com.au
