With a strong focus on operational efficiency, safety compliance, and dependable service delivery, The Trustee for BJ & TA Claridge Family Trust has established itself as a reliable provider of mechanical transport and freight solutions. The Fleet Manager will play a critical leadership role in supervising fleet performance, coordinating logistics operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and implementing cost-effective maintenance strategies. Roles & Responsibilities: ·Supervise and train staff involved in fleet operations, ensuring adherence to company policies and continuous improvement in efficiency. ·Develop and implement fleet policies, risk management strategies, and contingency plans to improve resilience and reduce operational disruptions. ·Monitor market trends in leasing and transport to recommend upgrades, sustainability initiatives, or technology. ·Oversee fleet performance, financial, and operational reports to provide insights that guide strategic decisions. ·Manage fleet bookings and schedules to maximise use, reduce downtime, and respond client needs. ·Ensure safe work practices, driver safety, and compliance with all legal and environmental requirements. ·Coordinate acquisition, leasing, and disposal of vehicles, including procurement strategies, supplier negotiations, and cost-control measures. ·Oversee leasing operations by engaging with clients, understanding vehicle requirements and contractual obligations, and addressing concerns to maintain satisfaction. ·Ensure all vehicles are properly maintained and check return conditions of leased vehicles, including inspections, servicing, and adherence to industry and contractual standards. ·Optimise costs and streamline operations through efficient fleet logistics, coordinating vehicle movements and leveraging GPS tracking for real-time visibility and decision-making. ·Maintain and audit fleet documentation such as vehicle transactions, logbooks, run sheets, inspection reports, registration, insurance, and compliance paperwork. Skills and Experience: ·Minimum Diploma qualification in a relevant discipline is required. ·At least one year of proven experience in fleet or logistics coordination roles. ·Strong knowledge of safety compliance, vehicle maintenance, and transport regulations. ·Demonstrated ability to supervise drivers and support staff while maintaining productivity. ·Excellent organisational and planning skills to manage fleet resources efficiently. ·Strong communication and problem-solving skills for client and supplier liaison. ·Proficiency in maintaining operational records, reporting systems, and performance monitoring tools.
