About The Opportunity Bundaberg Regional Council is seeking an experienced Safety Business Partner to work closely with leaders and frontline teams to create safer workplaces and stronger safety leadership across a diverse, high‑risk operational environment. In this hands‑on partnering role, you’ll provide expert advice, coaching and practical solutions that help leaders and employees meet their work health and safety obligations while fostering a positive, proactive safety culture. You’ll be trusted to influence, challenge and support, balancing compliance with innovation and real‑world operational needs. This is an opportunity for a safety professional who enjoys building relationships, solving complex problems and seeing the direct impact of their work across an organisation that serves its community. About You To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following key selection criteria: Applicants must demonstrate: Proven experience in a similar work health and safety role within a medium to large, complex and high‑risk organisation. Relevant qualifications in Work Health and Safety, with a high level of knowledge of WHS legislation, codes of practice and best practice, and the ability to apply these in a practical, operational environment. Experience conducting workplace investigations, audits and inspections, including implementing corrective actions and improvement initiatives. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships and partnerships across all levels of an organisation. High‑level written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to deliver training, facilitate presentations and prepare clear, accurate reports for management. Demonstrated capability in coaching leaders and employees and contributing to the development of proactive and positive safety cultures. Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision, including working in remote or isolated locations, while also contributing effectively within a team environment. Experience in managing challenging and courageous conversations, including negotiation and conflict resolution, to achieve safety outcomes. Emotional resilience and the ability to work professionally in sensitive, confidential and high‑pressure situations. A current Class “C” driver licence Desired Requirements Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator accreditation, with experience in rehabilitation and return‑to‑work case management.
