Meet the CORTO Accounting Frontend team You’ll lead the Frontend Engineering team responsible for building and evolving CORTO’s legal accounting products. This team sits at the intersection of greenfield AI-driven features and the re-imagining of core accounting workflows - including timesheets, billing, payments, and financial reporting. We operate in a low-bureaucracy, high-ownership environment, where engineers are trusted to shape both the how and the what. What you’ll do As Frontend Team Lead, you’ll be responsible for the health, velocity, and technical direction of the frontend team. This is a hands-on leadership role. You’ll split your time between: Supporting and growing engineers Driving delivery and execution Setting technical direction and standards You’ll work closely with the Principal Engineer (currently the existing lead) to evolve the architecture and long-term strategy, while taking ownership of day-to-day team leadership and delivery outcomes. Lead the Team Manage, mentor, and grow a team of frontend engineers Run regular 1:1s, provide feedback, and support career development Foster a strong, collaborative, and accountable team culture Own Frontend Delivery Ensure consistent, predictable delivery across projects Work with Product and Design to plan, scope, and prioritise work Remove blockers and keep the team focused on outcomes Drive Technical Standards Establish and enforce best practices across React, TypeScript, and frontend architecture Maintain high standards for performance, accessibility, and code quality Guide decisions around state management, data fetching, and UI architecture Collaborate Across Teams Partner with backend engineers to ensure clean API design and integration Work closely with Design to deliver high-quality user experiences Align with Principal Engineers and other leads on broader system direction Scale the Frontend Function Improve development workflows, CI/CD, and release processes Contribute to hiring and onboarding new engineers Help evolve the team structure as we grow To make this happen, you will: Help lead development of applications using React, Next.js, Electron, Tailwind and TypeScript Own and evolve our frontend architecture Improve performance, reliability, and maintainability across the codebase Introduce and refine patterns for state management, data fetching, and component design Drive better observability and debugging practices for frontend applications Champion incremental improvements over large rewrites What you’ll bring 6 years of frontend engineering experience Strong expertise in React and TypeScript Experience with modern React frameworks (Next.js preferred) Proven experience leading or mentoring engineers Strong understanding of frontend architecture and scalable UI systems Experience working in cross-functional product teams Ability to balance technical quality with delivery pragmatism Nice to have Experience with Electron Exposure to AI or data-heavy applications Familiarity with building or scaling team processes from scratch Experience with design systems or component libraries You are the type of person who Enjoys helping other engineers succeed as much as writing code Brings structure and clarity to ambiguous problems Balances speed and quality without being dogmatic Communicates clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders Takes ownership and follows through CORTO is an inclusive, people-first company committed to breaking down institutional barriers that keep people from reaching their potential.
