Operating with significant autonomy, you will provide trusted advice to senior leaders, shape risk decision‑making, and lead complex deliverables across one of the Bank’s broadest and most technically demanding Line 1 risk environments. See yourself in our team Finance Operational Risk & Control (FORC) is responsible for embedding CommBank’s Operational Risk Management Framework within Group Finance. The team leads Line 1 operational risk and compliance activities, including governance, risk identification and mitigation, compliance monitoring, issues and incidents, escalation, reporting and capability uplift. FORC supports a wide and diverse Group Finance portfolio, including Regulatory Reporting, Capital and Regulatory Reporting platforms, Sustainability Reporting, Treasury Finance and critical data environments. Compared to other Line 1 risk teams, the scope is unusually broad and technically complex, requiring strong compliance capability and sound judgement. As a Senior Manager, you will partner closely with senior leaders across these areas and provide people leadership within the FORC team. Your Impact In this role, you will be accountable for: Leading Line 1 risk and compliance business partnering for key Group Finance portfolios, including regulatory reporting, sustainability reporting, capital and data‑enabled platforms. Providing authoritative guidance to senior leaders on the interpretation and application of compliance and risk management frameworks, including prudential standards and obligations. Ensuring risks are appropriately identified, assessed and maintained within the Group Finance Business Profile (RCSA), including updates following trigger events. Providing senior oversight of control design, assessment, testing and scheduling within the Control Assurance Program (CAP). Overseeing root cause analysis of issues and incidents, ensuring effective remediation, escalation and closure. Owning data quality across risk systems (including RiskInSite) and delivering accurate, insightful monthly risk reporting, including reporting to the Group Finance Non‑Financial Risk Committee (NFRC). Contributing senior input into compliance self‑assessments and supporting Line 2 and Line 3 assurance activities. Balance capability development with delivery against high‑risk, non‑negotiable regulatory and Board‑level requirements. Set clear expectations, manage competing priorities, and maintain oversight across multiple concurrent deliverables. We’re interested in hearing from people who have Demonstrated experience operating within Line 1 risk or compliance roles in financial services. Strong, practical knowledge of compliance frameworks, prudential standards and regulatory obligations, with the ability to interpret and apply requirements in complex environments. Proven ability to think critically, solve complex problems and operate effectively where answers are not always clear‑cut. Experience business partnering with senior leaders and influencing outcomes through credibility, trust and sound judgement. People leadership experience, with the capability to coach, prioritise and lead through complexity. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to distil complex risk and compliance matters into clear, executive‑ready insights.
