To support the café’s operational requirements and maintain its reputation for exceptional food and service, Black Elk Espresso is seeking a skilled and experienced Chefs to join its kitchen team. The Chefs will play a key role in food preparation, maintaining kitchen quality and hygiene standards, and assisting management with operational and strategic kitchen tasks, ensuring consistently high-quality dishes and customer satisfaction. Salary: $75,000–$80,000 AUD Location: 600 Kurrajong Rd, Carnes Hill, NSW 2171 Key Responsibilities: Prepare, cook, and present a range of high-quality breakfast and lunch dishes in line with Black Elk Espresso’s menu and service standards. Ensure consistency, flavour accuracy, and presentation quality across all dishes produced. Lead, manage, and supervise cooks and kitchen hands to maintain an efficient workflow during daily operations and peak periods. Assist the Senior Chef and café management with daily kitchen operations, menu planning, and strategic culinary decisions. Contribute to inventory management, including stock rotation, ordering, and monitoring ingredient quality and freshness. Oversee daily mise en place, ensuring all stations are fully prepared for service. Maintain strict kitchen hygiene, food safety compliance, and occupational health and safety standards in accordance with regulatory requirements. Train, mentor, and support junior kitchen staff to uphold high culinary and operational standards. Requirements: Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification. Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience as a Chef in a busy commercial kitchen, preferably with café or casual dining experience. Proven ability to supervise and mentor junior staff, and support kitchen management. Knowledge of café-style breakfast, brunch, or light lunch cuisine is highly regarded. Ability to work effectively under pressure and maintain attention to detail. Passion for food, teamwork, and delivering an exceptional dining experience.
