We are seeking a motivated individual to work with our Youth & Clinical Liaison Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Service (CLAIS). We support young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their families who have been impacted by alcohol and other drugs. To uphold cultural safety and trauma-informed practice, this program requires a counsellor within a designated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander role. The program provides counselling, support and advocacy, working in partnership with government and non-government services. This includes one-on-one support, yarning and deep listening, alcohol and other drug education, and support including links to community activities and programs. Your opportunity As a AOD Counsellor / Case Manager you’ll engage and support your clients in their ongoing case management, group facilitation, and treatment of AOD dependency and other associated factors. You’ll walk beside clients and celebrate with them when they achieve their goals and help to develop their capacity and confidence. This is a part-time permanent position. The annual rate is $88,109.84 plus Superannuation (pro rata), Salary Packaging benefits to increase your take-home, and a huge range of discounted products via Perkbox. What we are looking for We are looking for a confident and capable Counsellor / Case Manager who is able to manage their day-to-day duties working cohesively within the team. This is a high demand environment, so you’ll also be required to balance autonomy and efficiency, providing high quality engagement, assessment counselling and support services to your clients. You’re also experienced in utilising evidence-based practice principles for withdrawal, support, and recovery. Other skills and experience you bring will include: · Supporting First Nation women through a strengths-based approach to develop, implement and review individual treatment goals. · Managing a case load of clients providing clinical support, service coordination, referral, and advocacy to assist client in achieving their goals. · Supervising and managing risk where practicable, associated with clients residing in a residential treatment context – including high level complexity and dual diagnosis behavioural management. · Facilitating group work and processes autonomously (taking sole responsibility and management of challenging behaviour, efficacy blockers and detractive dynamics). · Developing program resources and key documents that support the clinical and operational functioning. · Providing culturally appropriate practice as relevant to varying clients. · Applying knowledge in contemporary evidence based AOD clinical practice. · Demonstrating expertise in residential treatment service delivery with a sound knowledge of the potential risk elements specific to this type of environment. · Developing and delivering education programs and group facilitation with AOD clients Benefits of Working with Us This a great opportunity to be at the forefront of an essential service with a chance work within a multi-disciplinary team who provide the best support they can.
