About the Role : We are currently looking for a sustainability and environmental professional to join our growing Health, Safety and Sustainability team on a full-time permanent capacity based at our Melbourne CBD head office. This role will play a critical part in lifting environmental performance by embedding sound sustainability and environmental practices into day‑to‑day operations. Working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, you will support the development, implementation and monitoring of strategies that ensure environmental risks are identified, prioritised and sustainably managed across all levels of the organisation. *There is a requirement of this role to travel occasionally to projects sites. Key responsibilities: Embed sustainability and environmental practices into day‑to‑day business operations through technical advice, education and communication Support the integration of environmental requirements into business processes, systems, procedures and tools Improve usage and emissions data collection and assist in identifying sustainability improvement initiatives Develop, implement and maintain controls for key environmental risks including water, vegetation, noise and waste management Monitor environmental performance, conduct trend analysis, identify non‑conformances and drive continuous improvement initiatives Support HSS assurance activities including site inspections, field assessments and audits Manage compliance with Development Consents, planning obligations, environmental management plans and permits Liaise with regulators and government agencies on environmental compliance matters Coordinate environmental reporting, including incidents, non‑compliances and sustainability performance outcomes For more information on the role’s responsibilities, please click here to download the position description. What you’ll need from day one: Tertiary qualification in Sustainability, Environmental Management or a related discipline Previous experience in an environmental or sustainability role within utilities, heavy industry or a similar sector Strong knowledge of environmental management systems, audits and compliance programs Proven experience in environmental legislation and planning compliance, including Development Consents and permits Ability to influence managers and supervisors on HSE and sustainability initiatives Experience conducting field inspections, system audits and environmental incident investigations Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication skills and understanding of ESG reporting requirements Previous experience with sustainability and emissions reporting (desired) Key Benefits: We’re proud to offer an inclusive, supportive workplace where everyone feels safe, valued, and empowered to grow.
