About the Role Due to project demand, we are seeking an experienced Steerer (Locator) to support our HDD crews. As the Steerer, you will provide real-time tracking and guidance to ensure the bore is constructed within design tolerances, working closely with the Driller to maintain alignment and accuracy. You’ll check the drill head position routinely, compare progress to the design alignment, and communicate steering patterns required to follow the bore plan. Key Responsibilities Operate HDD guidance systems including walkover, wireline and gyro systems Provide accurate steering and positioning data to the Driller in real time Monitor bore alignment and confirm drilled alignment remains within specified tolerance Review available geology / borehole information prior to and during drilling to anticipate deviation risk Keep steering adjustments controlled to reduce the risk of doglegs Calibrate, maintain and troubleshoot tracking equipment to ensure locate accuracy and signal reliability Record and report bore path / “as-drilled” data (logs, tracking points, daily reporting as required) Work closely with the drilling crew and site leadership to support safe, efficient operations About You The successful applicant will have the following qualifications/ experience and capabilities: Demonstrated experience as an HDD Steerer / Locator / Guidance Technician Competency with walkover and/or wireline systems; gyro experience desirable Strong capability in equipment set-up, calibration, and maintaining reliable locate accuracy Confidence interpreting bore plans and tracking progress against design alignment A strong safety and quality mindset, with excellent documentation and communication skills How to Apply Please submit your resume outlining your relevant experience and any tickets or competencies held.
