We are currently seeking a passionate and skilled Chef to join our team at Mr. Walker, contributing to our mission of delivering high quality food and memorable dining experiences while supporting local families and businesses. Key Responsibilities (aligned with ANZSCO 351311 – Chef) Plan, develop, and cost seasonal menus that reflect Sycamore Group’s diverse offerings (curries, stir-fries, pizzas, salads, burgers, and vegan desserts). Prepare and cook high-quality dishes using fresh, seasonal ingredients. Cater to special dietary requirements including gluten-free, nut-free, and allergen-sensitive options. Supervise and coordinate the activities of cooks, apprentices, and kitchenhands. Train and mentor staff in vegan cooking techniques and plant-based food preparation. Monitor food quality, taste, and presentation to ensure consistency across high-volume service. Ensure consistency in food quality, taste, and presentation across all services. Manage stock levels, supplier orders, and minimise food wastage. Ensure compliance with strict hygiene, health, and food safety standards. Innovate new dishes, including fusion-style mains, raw food options, and plant-based desserts. Oversee kitchen operations to maintain smooth service during peak dining hours. Ensure proper freezing and storage of foods. Requirements Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or higher) Minimum 1 years’ experience as a Chef in a similar environment Knowledge of Food Hygiene & OHS Standards Ability to adapt recipes for various dietary needs (gluten-free, allergen-aware) Positive attitude with a strong work ethic and good communication skills.
