WHS Advisor Fulltime Permanent Onsite, Darlinghurst, Sydney, NSW Reporting to: WHS Manager About you You're a passionate and practical WHS professional who enjoys being hands on and visible in the workplace. The role Reporting to the WHS Manager, the WHS Advisor plays a key role in implementing and maintaining the Institute's Work Health & Safety Management System. You'll work closely with operational, scientific and corporate teams to ensure legislative compliance, manage WHS programs, and promote a positive safety culture across the Institute. This is a varied and engaging role that combines operational WHS delivery, stakeholder engagement, training, reporting and continuous improvement activities within a world‑class research environment. What we will trust you with Supporting the ongoing implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of the Institute's WHS Management System Providing specialist WHS advice to leaders, staff and key stakeholders across the Institute Managing WHS administrative processes, including risk and chemical management systems Monitoring legislative and regulatory changes and contributing to updates of WHS policies, procedures and systems Coordinating and participating in WHS inspections, audits, investigations and risk assessments Investigating incidents and hazards, identifying root causes and driving corrective actions Preparing WHS reports, analysing data and identifying trends or emerging risks Supporting WHS training needs analysis and delivery in partnership with People & Culture Contributing to WHS projects and initiatives that promote continual improvement and cultural change Does this sound like you? You hold relevant tertiary qualifications (Diploma or Degree) in Work Health & Safety At least 2 years' experience in a WHS role, ideally within a laboratory, research or scientific environment Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, standards and codes of practice You've supported the implementation and monitoring of WHS Management Systems Confident managing multiple priorities and working across diverse stakeholder groups Able to communicate clearly and professionally, both in writing and in person Strong customer service mindset and a collaborative, solutions‑focused approach Committed to ongoing professional development and continuous improvement About us The Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute (the Institute) is dedicated to finding cures for cardiovascular disease and is one of the most respected heart research facilities in the world.
