The Department of Education is seeking skilled and culturally responsive Teacher Aide - Language Model (Auslan) applicants to join a Statewide Recruitment Pool supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students across Queensland state schools. Language Models play a vital role in promoting first-language development in Auslan, supporting communication access, and strengthening students' connection to Deaf culture and identity. About The Role As a Teacher Aide - Language Model (Auslan), you will: Provide fluent, natural Auslan language modelling for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students Support students' expressive and receptive language development Promote Deaf culture, identity and culturally safe learning environments Work collaboratively with teachers, educational interpreters and specialist staff Contribute to inclusive classroom practices and communication access Appointments may be Permanent or Temporary, Full-time or Part-time, depending on school need and available vacancies. Applicants Must Indicate their preferred geographic location(s) within Queensland as part of their application Be aware that vacancies may arise at various times throughout the year Understand that appointment will occur only when a suitable vacancy becomes available The recruitment panel will convene monthly to review applications and assess suitability for inclusion in the pool.
