Speech Pathologist – Locum (Rural Generalist) Location: Victoria Regional Contract: Locum | ASAP Start Setting: Community & Hospital About the Role We are seeking an experienced Speech Pathologist for a rewarding locum opportunity in a rural generalist setting. This is a sole practitioner role , primarily based in a paediatric outpatient clinic , with additional responsibilities across inpatient, adult, and aged care services. You will play a key role in managing service delivery, including triaging referrals, prioritising caseloads, and coordinating your own schedule , with valuable support from an Allied Health Assistant to assist with therapy implementation and administrative tasks. Caseload & Clinical Areas This diverse role offers exposure across multiple settings, including: Paediatric outpatients (approximately 80% of caseload) Adult outpatient services Acute and subacute inpatient wards Residential aged care Clinical presentations include: Speech sound and phonological disorders Language delays Dysphagia assessment and management (including ward and residential care) Voice disorders Acquired communication impairments Some paediatric clients may require short-term intervention and onward referral pathways , including NDIS services. Occasional home visits may also be required. About You To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate: A recognised qualification in Speech Pathology, with eligibility for membership with Speech Pathology Australia Postgraduate training or further study in a relevant clinical area (highly regarded) Strong clinical experience with well-developed skills across assessment, diagnosis, and intervention for both individuals and groups Confidence working autonomously, with the ability to manage a broad and varied caseload Highly developed written and verbal communication skills An understanding of healthcare standards, funding models, and quality improvement processes Cultural awareness and sensitivity, with the ability to provide inclusive and person-centred care.
