This role offers the chance to work in a unique remote and cross-cultural setting, supporting children, families, schools, and communities through evidence-based, trauma-informed speech and language interventions. You’ll play a key role in strengthening communication, regulation, and developmental outcomes while working alongside local families, Elders, and support workers. About your Role Reporting to the Community Health Programs Manager, you will deliver clinical services, build local capacity, and contribute to culturally safe, community-led programs. The position involves regular travel to remote communities. Key Responsibilities Conduct culturally appropriate speech and language assessments Develop and implement individualised therapy plans addressing speech, language, communication, and regulation needs Provide services through face-to-face and telehealth models Train and mentor local support workers in communication and co-regulation strategies Co-design and deliver workshops for families, teachers, and community members Develop culturally relevant resources such as visual aids and regulation tools Work closely with Elders, families, and community members to ensure culturally aligned practice Adapt service delivery to community contexts, including cultural obligations and sorry business Use culturally sensitive tools to support communication and self-regulation To be eligible for this position you will have Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Speech Pathology Eligibility for registration with Speech Pathology Australia (SPA) Minimum 3 years’ post-graduate experience, preferably in paediatric and/or remote settings Demonstrated cultural competency and experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities Strong communication skills and commitment to family-centred care Ability to work independently and travel regularly to remote locations Location Information You will be based in the heart of Western Australia’s Pilbara Region, with regular outreach to surrounding remote Aboriginal communities.
