Initial 12 month contract possible extension Competitive market rates ARC GIS Pro | FME Form | Python Our Queensland Government client is currently seeking a Senior Geospatial Science Officer to provide advice and consult as a technical expert for Geographical Information Systems (GIS) in their Rail Division. To be successful in this role you must have experience operating GIS software, converting raw data into spatial formats, and providing tailored mapping and GIS services. You should be capable of handling data conversions and reference system transformations, responding to inquiries through data queries and geocoding, and maintaining GIS databases. The role requires cartographic experience, with an emphasis on applying departmental guidelines to create consistent, high-calibre mapping products for both print and web platforms. As the Senior Geospatial Science Officer, you will: Assemble, analyse, interpret, and report on spatial data from appropriate systems, providing information through compiled datasets, high quality mapping products or reports as required by customers and clients. Manipulate, consolidate, and rationalise ArcGIS data sets using file, enterprise and hosted data sources. Assist in developing naming conventions and metadata standards primarily related to infrastructure delivery projects. Produce documentation, user guides and training materials related to standards and use of project applications. Manage date in ESRI and associated Geodatabases and file systems. Develop and deploy complex routines and automated processes in Python, FME and Microsoft Office related to Geospatial and GIS projects Apply comprehensive knowledge in GIS in developing departmental knowledge and practice through technology transfer activities, to provide the technical capability to deliver departmental geospatial needs. What you’ll bring to the role: Minimum of a 3-year degree from a tertiary institute in Spatial Science (GIS), or an equivalent qualification from an approved tertiary institute ArcGIS Pro – mainly related to data manipulation, optimisation etc ArcGIS Enterprise FME Form Highly Regarded/Desirable Python scripting Model Builder AWS CLI AutoCad 12D Professional membership and/or certification (General or Specialist (GISP-AP)) with the Geospatial Council of Australia.
