About the Role We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Project Officer to join our team for a dynamic 12-week assignment. You will conduct environmental scans of publicly accessible national security information , providing essential research support that drives current strategic initiatives. This is a hands-on, high-impact role suited to candidates who thrive on independent work, attention to detail, and contributing to meaningful government projects. Key Responsibilities Conduct thorough environmental scans and desktop research on publicly accessible national security information. Analyse and synthesise complex information into clear, actionable insights and reports. Support project coordination tasks from initiation through to completion. Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes. Maintain accurate records, research logs, and documentation. Key Skills & Experience Proven experience as a Project Officer or in a research/project coordination role. Strong skills in environmental scanning, desktop research, and analytical problem-solving. Background in government policy research or related fields. Ability to work independently and efficiently after initial direction. Familiarity with national security, defense, or policy environments is a plus. Desirable Prior involvement in government or defense-related projects. Experience synthesising complex information into reports. Proficiency in research tools and databases relevant to policy/security sectors. Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Preferred Qualifications Tertiary qualification in Public Policy, Security Studies, Social Sciences, or related discipline. Minimum 3 years’ experience in project coordination or research roles within government or consultancy environments.
