The opportunity Our Ecology and Environmental Approvals team works closely with clients to assist the planning, delivery and operation of major infrastructure in the transport, water, power/renewables and resources sectors. As we're looking for Environmental Consultant with experience in the Environmental Approvals space to join our Melbourne team. As an Environmental Consultant, you will contribute to and manage medium to large environmental assessments, due diligence assessments, environmental approvals and environmental authority applications as well as drafting submissions, proposals and providing advice to clients. The combined team works on all project stages; from feasibility studies, to securing planning, development and environmental approvals and subsequent post-approvals management plans and advice to designers and your clients. Some examples of the key areas you will work within include: Renewable energy – engagement, research and analysis to improve renewable energy outcomes Water utility infrastructure – assessment, approvals and environmental management for major water utility clients Business cases – review of project options and assessment of preferred options to inform decision-making Corridor assessments – review of environmental and planning matters, identification and assessment of options Environmental assessments – preparation of small to large environmental impact assessments, coordination of technical assessments, authoring of documents, integrating with multi-disciplinary teams. What we'll love about you You have experience in planning and/or environmental approvals, and you’re passionate about maintaining and creating liveable urban and regional communities. You ideally have experience in primary authoring of Environmental Impact Assessments, Native Vegetation Clearing Permits and/or EPBC Referrals and Approvals. In addition, you bring the following skills and attributes: At least three years' working in a consulting environment Good understanding of environmental assessment, approvals and management frameworks Knowledge of Environmental Protection Act and EPBC Act applicable to the power/renewable, water, transport, and construction sectors Some project coordination experience, particularly with approvals pathway planning and the coordination of specialists on environmental impact assessment/planning approval projects Ability to distil complex information, think strategically and translate that thinking into practical solutions Tertiary qualifications in environmental science, urban planning or similar disciplines What we will offer you At WSP we provide a diverse and inclusive work environment and offer many personal and professional development opportunities that are aimed to help you deliver your best self to the role whilst managing your personal life in balance.
