Position: Fleet Manager Position Type : Full-Time Salary: $77,000 to $85,000 plus superannuation per annum Location: Kialla East VIC 3631 Our client Fateh Logistics Pty Ltd is a well-established Australian transport and logistics company operating a large fleet of prime movers, rigid trucks, and trailers across Victoria and interstate. The company provides local and interstate cartage services including tautliner, flat deck, tipper truck, and B-double operations. With a fleet exceeding 50 vehicles and trailers and a workforce of more than 15 employees, the business continues to grow and requires experienced management to oversee its transport operations and fleet assets. As a Fleet Manager you will be responsible for the strategic and operational management of Fateh Logistics Pty Ltd's entire vehicle and trailer fleet. This includes planning and overseeing fleet maintenance, compliance, driver management, route optimisation, and cost control. The Fleet Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the company's transport assets, and acts as the primary liaison between drivers, maintenance personnel, clients, and the Director. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Fleet Operations Management Oversee the day-to-day operations of a large and diverse fleet comprising prime movers, tipper trucks, tautliners, flat decks, and B-double trailers Plan and coordinate vehicle deployment, ensuring trucks and trailers are allocated efficiently to meet customer and operational requirements Monitor fleet performance, including fuel consumption, vehicle utilisation, and operational costs, and report regularly to the Director Develop and implement fleet management policies, procedures, and operational standards Liaise with subcontractors and owner-drivers as required to supplement fleet capacity Maintenance and Asset Management Develop and manage a preventative maintenance schedule for all vehicles and trailers in the fleet Coordinate and authorise vehicle servicing, repairs, and inspections in accordance with manufacturer requirements and regulatory standards Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, vehicle registrations, and roadworthy certificates Liaise with mechanics, workshops, and parts suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective repairs Monitor vehicle condition and manage end-of-life asset decisions including disposal and procurement recommendations Oversee GPS tracking systems and telematics to monitor vehicle location, usage, and driver behaviour Regulatory Compliance and Safety Ensure the fleet and all drivers comply with applicable transport laws and regulations, including the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL), National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme (NHVAS), and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations Maintain up-to-date knowledge of transport regulations and communicate changes to drivers and management Manage vehicle registrations, CTP, and insurance renewals in coordination with the Director Oversee fatigue management, load restraint compliance, and mass and dimension requirements across the fleet Investigate and report incidents, near-misses, and accidents, and implement corrective actions Conduct or coordinate regular driver safety briefings and toolbox talks Driver and Staff Management Supervise and support a team of drivers and vehicle maintenance staff Coordinate driver rosters, leave schedules, and on-call arrangements to ensure adequate coverage Monitor and manage driver licences, medicals, and visa work entitlements in conjunction with HR and compliance staff Identify training needs and coordinate induction, licensing, and refresher training for drivers and maintenance personnel Address performance issues and conduct disciplinary processes in consultation with the Director Client and Stakeholder Liaison Serve as the primary operational contact for key transport clients, addressing service delivery issues and escalations promptly Coordinate with clients and dispatch to schedule pickups, deliveries, and special freight requirements Manage relationships with insurers, financiers, and regulatory bodies as required Administration and Reporting Maintain accurate fleet records including vehicle files, service logs, compliance documentation, and incident reports Prepare and present regular operational and fleet performance reports to management Assist with budgeting and cost control for fleet-related expenditure including fuel, maintenance, registration, and insurance Use fleet management software and systems to track vehicle data and generate operational reports Qualifications and experience: Essential Diploma in Logistics, Transport Management, or a related discipline Minimum 12 months of experience in a fleet management, transport operations, or logistics supervisory role Demonstrated knowledge of Australian heavy vehicle transport regulations, including HVNL, CoR, and NHVAS requirements Experience managing a large fleet of heavy vehicles including prime movers and semi-trailers Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously Proficient in the use of computer systems, fleet management software, and Microsoft Office applications Valid Australian driver licence (HR or HC class preferred) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Desirable Experience with GPS/telematics fleet management systems Knowledge of DAMA or employer-sponsored visa obligations relevant to transport industry workers The position requires availability outside standard business hours from time to time to respond to operational issues, breakdowns, or emergencies.
