What are we looking for? Our Medical Law team is growing, and we are now seeking a Lawyer with 2 years PAE to join our Dandenong team. This is a full time, 12 month Fixed Term Contract position. You will be working with one of our most experienced and respected practice groups nationally which will see you managing your own files. We are also open to discussions regarding flexible work. Our Lawyers in the Medical Law teams across the country, assist clients who are impacted by medical negligence (also known as medical malpractice). This is the failure from a health-care provider, including GPs and specialists, to treat clients with reasonable skill and care, causing an injury as a result. You will work within a supportive and encouraging team environment that specialises in Medical Negligence Law. You can expect to be guided and mentored throughout your career, this is a true opportunity to develop your skills. Critical to the role will be forging strong links with internal and external stakeholders. In addition to taking on a wide range of challenging legal matters, this role will also see you manage and strengthen existing community relationships along with initiating and building new networks. Your responsibilities will include: Instrumental in managing a practice Continually exploring new opportunities for your practice and developing new business Maintaining strong client relationships Exceptional negotiation skills and an ability to communicate effectively Demonstrated skills in effective network and relationship management Ability to exercise judgement and resolve problems expeditiously What will you bring? You will have a passion for Medical Law and generating positive outcomes for clients. The following experience and skills will ensure your success in this position: A keen interest in personal injury law and exposure to a plaintiff personal injury practice (highly desirable) A natural passion for helping people and high level of empathy Exceptional experience in communication and customer service Excellent written and drafting skills A calm and easy-going nature Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team Ability to handle sensitive issues and challenging clients Ability to exercise judgement and resolve problems expeditiously Demonstrated skills in effective network and relationship management Available to work 38 hours per week, between the hours of 8:30am – 5pm Monday to Friday.
