Deflector Operation consists of two high-grade, narrow vein Gold/Copper mines, located 160km east of Geraldton. The ore is contained in a series of structurally complex lodes, namely the Deflector and Deflector South West deposits. Reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist, the Graduate Geologist role provides support to the Mine Geology team by safely and efficiently undertaking geological data collection and entry, logging and processing underground diamond core, maintaining grade control processes, and conducting underground mapping and sampling. This position will be offered on an 8:6 FIFO roster from Perth. Key responsibilities of this role will include: Undertake diamond core processing, including logging, mark-up and orientation, core cutting, sampling and other related measurements Assist in undertaking sludge and stockpile sampling as required Assist in Marking up ore drives and stope areas ahead of mining Assist with underground mapping and sampling to minimise ore loss and dilution and increase the geological understanding of the deposit Learn how to provide mining direction to ensure optimal ore position for stoping Ensure all data captured is recorded accurately Assist in entry of production data and the preparation of daily, weekly and monthly reports. Liaise with the Mine Geologists and Metallurgists to assist with ROM ore stockpile management to optimise the blend into the Process Plant Exposure to Exploration team activities, such as soil sampling, RC, AC and Diamond drill programmes. About You Degree in Geology or a related discipline. Developing an understanding of the statutory requirements of the Western Australian Mining Act and Regulations, as well as the Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act. Demonstrates outstanding attention to detail and possesses strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Proficient computer skills in MS Office Suite. Vacation work experience within the Mining industry, ideally within Gold Mining, will be highly regarded.
