About the role: Reporting to the Director, this role is responsible for providing comprehensive physiotherapy assessment, treatment and rehabilitation services to inpatients on Myles Ward & OPAL/RCOT during weekends, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient recovery and mobility outcomes. Duties for the role will include: Providing leadership, consultancy and advice to management and other health professionals on service delivery development and practice within Physiotherapy services, Providing leadership, consultancy and advice to management and other health professionals on service delivery development and practice within Physiotherapy services in the OPAL/RCOT unit and transition care services, Developing, reviewing and evaluating clinical protocols, policies, procedures and resources within a best practise framework within the OPAL/RCOT unit, Assessing patients’ physical abilities, problems and needs using a variety of formal and informal assessments suited to this specific patient group, Implementing intervention programs that reflect best practise guidelines, Monitoring and evaluating the progress and outcomes of interventions, Documenting assessment findings and interventions, in accordance with documentation guidelines and standards, Where appropriate, initiating quality and service improvement activities in consultation with the Director of Physiotherapy and / or GEM Unit Allied Health Manager Leader About you: A degree or equivalent which entitles registration as a Physiotherapist with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia, Demonstrated ability to assume responsibility for the organisation and supervision of clinical Physiotherapy services to a designated area as a member of an interdisciplinary team. This includes the ability to undertake assessment and intervention with clients with a variety of illnesses and disabilities, including management of complex cases, Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills including negotiation, consultation and conflict resolution skills, and the ability to establish and maintain effective networks with key stakeholders, Demonstrated high level communication skills including the ability to communicate with clients, professional staff of different disciplines, administrative staff and staff of other agencies, both verbally and in writing, Extensive experience in the provision of clinical Physiotherapy services to clients with a broad range of illnesses and disabilities relevant to an acute medical area, in particular clients with complex needs and the older person, Demonstrated experience in clinical management and leadership within a discrete unit, including program evaluation and service development, Demonstrated experience in the effective development, implementation and evaluation of quality improvement initiatives, and / or departmental policies and procedures relevant in a hospital setting Please see the attached Role Description for additional information.
