The Company Our client is a market leading food manufacturing business seeking a highly motivated and experienced General Manager of Manufacturing to lead and manage all aspects of Manufacturing, Maintenance/Engineering, Raw Material Procurement, Warehousing/Logistics & P&L. As a key member of the leadership team, you will focus on compliance, continuous improvement, and Workplace Health & Safety, driving best practices to optimize operational performance, safety, and product quality. The Role Reporting to the Managing Director, your role will be responsible for: Lead the day-to-day operations of the Braeside manufacturing facility, ensuring safe, efficient and consistent production across two shifts. Monitor raw material usage, yield and waste, identifying opportunities to optimise material utilisation and reduce cost across the manufacturing process. Develop a number of significant opportunities for the business to increase volume through optimising the operation and supply chain. Oversee end-to-end manufacturing operations including production planning, purchasing, manufacturing, maintenance, quality and logistics. Ensure production targets and customer demand are met through effective planning, scheduling and resource allocation. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve operational efficiency, productivity, waste reduction and overall plant performance. Work closely with supply chain and procurement functions to ensure effective inventory management and raw material availability. Support and develop people as they advance their career within the organisation. Lead regular meetings with staff to support and improve performance. Manage the manufacturing P&L, with accountability for operational budgets including labour, raw material and production costs, ensuring cost control, efficient resource utilisation and profitability across the manufacturing operation. Drive and maintain quality and safety standards to ensure full compliance with all relevant government regulations. Your Background In order to be successful in this role you will have: Proven leadership experience in a food manufacturing / production environment, with responsibility for managing production teams and plant operations. Demonstrated experience managing end-to-end manufacturing operations, including production planning/purchasing, quality and logistics. Ideally a minimum of 5-10 years at Site Manager level. Strong people leadership capability, with experience leading, developing and motivating teams across multiple shifts. Commercial acumen with experience managing manufacturing P&L, operational budgets and cost control across labour, materials and production expenses. Excellent understanding of continuous improvement methodologies, with a track record of improving operational efficiency, productivity and waste reduction. Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, scaling business environment, balancing day-to day operational demands with longer-term improvement initiatives. Highly capable problem-solving and decision-making capability, with the ability to identify operational challenges and implement practical solutions. Expert communication, coaching, consultation and negotiation skills with an ability to engage and influence internal stakeholders.
